ARMS FOR ISRAEL
French Ban Discussed
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) PARIS, Feb. 5. President de Gaulle has discussed the possibility of lifting the French Government’s arms embargo which was imposed on Israel and the Arab States after last June’? Middle East War, according to usually reliable sources. They said he and Mr Marcel Dassault, manufacturer of the Mirage jet fighter-bombers which helped Israel win the war, discussed the embargo last week.
Israel is still awaiting delivery of the 50 Mirage V jets which it has paid for, and should have received last November. But the sources said 10 of these had been set aside for Lebanon and Pakistan.
