N.Z. Lamb MOVE TO ADVANCE SALES IN CANADA
(New Zealand Press Association)
WELLINGTON, February 6.
The Meat Board is bringing to New Zealand a party of Canadian supermarket executives concerned in the sale of New Zealand lamb.
Announcing this today, the chairman of the board (Sir John Ormond) said that invitations had been sent to the presidents of supermarkets covering the whole of Canada to send one of their senior officers.
Arrangements were now being completed for the tour by the party, which would arrive in Auckland on February 17 and leave from there on March 1. -
During their visit to New Zealand the Canadians will see the meat freezing industry and discuss lamb-cutting techniques, as well as seeing all phases of farming. They will also see other industries. The visitors would also see
some of New Zealand’s tourist spots. “This is important because these are people who are in day by day contact with the Canadian public,” said Sir John Ormond. “Canada is now our second biggest market for lamb,
takiiig the figures over recent years. “These people are men in key positions in the marketing of our lamb. They are people who are in a position to really ‘sell’ our products with the Canadian housewife.”
