Maori Hostel Burned
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Feb. 5. A Maori youth leapt 25 feet from a first floor window of a blazing hostel in Ponsonby, just after 9.30 p.m. today. The youth, Neil Paipa, aged 19, landed heavily on the footpath but was unhurt. The hostel, the Rangimaria Hostel for young Maori people, was partly destroyed as flames raced through the old wooden structure, which is actually two houses built flush to each other.
Five young Maoris and three firemen were injured.
