Won Race, Suspended

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. An Otago athlete was suspended for two weeks by the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association’s management committee meeting last evening. C. George was suspended for competing under an assumed name at a Southland sports meeting at Otautau late last year. Mr J. W. Holley, the Otago representative on the committee, reported George had admitted to Otago centre officials that he had competed under an assumed name. He said George had returned the prize he received for winning the six-mile road race. George is believed to be the first athlete suspended by the national athletics body for some years.
