SWEPT OFF BOAT
A man was drowned when he was swept off a fishing vessel at Tupuangi, Pitt Island, in the Chatham Islands, on Monday night. He was Manuel Goomes, aged 36, a fisherman.
Mr Goomes was a Chatham Islander employed in the fishing boat Endeavour. An inquest was opened before the Resident Commissioner (Mr D. S. Reid) yes. terday, and adjourned sine die after evidence of identification had been given.
