CW.k. Pr««« Asaoeiatlcn) AUCKLAND, Feb. 4. A bacteriologist whose car rolled over in Great North Road early yesterday morning was sentenced to 14 days imprisonment by Mr M. L. Morgan, S.M. John William Gillam, aged 21, pleaded guilty in the Auckland Magistrate’s Cocrt to a charge of driving while under the Influence of drink. The Magistrate disqualified Gillam from driving for four years, and endorsed his licence for a further three years. Gillam told the court he had swerved to avoid a striped pole he saw on the road. The Magistrate said a severe degree of intoxication was involved. Gillam was convicted and discharged on a further admitted charge of careless driving.
