COACHING CLASSES
Pre-Season Soccer
An ambitloui pre-season coaching scheme will begin at Cowles Stadium next Saturday. It hag been organised by the Canteibury Olympic Soccer Training Centre, The committee hopes to bring together between 260 and 360 boys in three age groups - under-12, under-13, and under-14—for coaching sessions on the next five Saturdays, from February 10 to March 9. Senior coaches will be allotted to each group of boys, who will spend at least 90 minutes of each session being taught the basic skills.
Each session Will end with flve-a-slde or six-e-side matches on a tournament basis. Teams will go to the finals of their groups, to be played on the last day. Arrangements for the coadhing sessions are being made by the soccer centre manager, Mr J. Egan, in conjunction with the Canterbury area coach, Mr K. C. Carter, and the centre committee. Clubs and schools are being invited to send boys to the coaching sessions which, if they are successful, will become an annual affair.
