UNIVERSITY VACANCIES THE UNIVERSITY OF SYDNEY POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS APPLICATIONS are invited for Postdoctoral Research Fellowships tenable in the Humanities, Social Sciences, Physical Sciences and Biological Sciences, in the University of Sydney. ELIGIBILITY: Candidates should normally hold a Ph.D. degree or be await* ing the result of a Ph.D. examination, or have research publications revealing equivalent status. TENURE: Fellowships are tenable for one year, but tenure will normally be extended for a second year. VALUE: The salary will be In the range of $4500-35645 (Australian) per annum. For Fellows coming from overseas, there will be an additional travel grant equivalent to a tourist class sea fare with a further grant not exceeding $2OO towards the fare of a Fellow's wife. An applicant should have a distinguished academic record and have published significant contributions in the field of Stochastic Processes. The successful applicant will be responsible to the Head of the Department of Mathematics and will work under the direction of the Professor of Statistics. The appointee will join the Statistics group of the Department, and will be expected to undertake reasonable lecturing and examining duties and such other relevant duties as may be required. He should be capable of playing a major part in developing and encouraging research in Stochastic Processes and supervising research students in that field.
