Marathon Rally

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) LONDON. A London-to-Sydney car rally, billed as “the greatest motoring event of modern times” will be held in November and December this year. Drivers will be competing for £lO,OOO first prize. They will cross Europe, the Middle East and India to Bombay, where the P. and O. liner Chusan will ferry them to Fremantle for the last leg to Sydney. The marathon is being organised by z a British newspaper, the “Daily Express,” in conjunction with the Royal Automobile Club of Britain. It is scheduled to start from London on November 23 and finish in Sydney about 10,000 driving miles and 24 days later. In Paris, the magazine “New Zealand Overseas” has also been attempting to i arrange a marathon car race, this time to New Zealand. The editor, Mr J. Langdon, said he had received more than 100 inquiries about entering the race, planned to start in April.
