NAMING OF N.Z. SIDE
(NZ. Press Association) AUCKLAND. The New Zealand cricket team for the first test against India will be named in 10 days during the Indians’ first game against the President’s XI at Hamilton. The chairman of the New Zealand selection panel (Mr M. Chapple) said the President's team would be named this week-end. “We won’t be using the President’s match as a trial,” said Mr Chapple, “but we will use it to let as many players as possible have a look at the tourists ”
None of the Central Districts side would play in the game because Central will meet the Indians in New Plymouth a few days later.
Golf Lead. — Four professionals lead the field on 67 in the Los Angeles Open golf tournament after 18 holes They are G. Littler, D. Eichelberger. J Clark, and A. Geiberger.
