WAIMAIRI'S FINANCES
The position was extremely satisfactory, allowing for the fact that receipts were lower than had been expected because of economic conditions, said the chairman of the Waimairi County Council (Mr D. B. Rich) when the council last evening reviewed its finances at December 31, with three-quarters of the financial year behind it. Income to the general account from sources other than rates for the nine months was $94,133, instead of the estimated $101,494 out of a total for the year of $147,150. General account expenditure in the nine months totalled $337,914, compared with an estimated $353,075 out of a budget of $461,492. Changed.—The name of Dalwood Street, Avonhead, was changed to Yardley Street, subject to advertising for objections. Roads Loan.—The council decided to ask the Loans Board for approval to raise a $60,000 loan to reconstruct Highsted Road from Bainton Street to Sawyers Arms Road, and Sawyers Arms Road from Morrison Avenue to Highsted Road.
