Conference On Social Work
More than 170 delegates from New Zealand at least three from Australia will attend the second biennial conference and convention of the New Zealand Association of Social Workers at Lincoln College from February 7 to February 10. The association was formed as a national body in February, 1964, and has more than 600 members in a wide range of voluntary and statutory agencies employing social workers. It aims to promote training of social workers, raise their professional standards and awareness of their work. The conference will open with a religious service conducted by the Rev. W. S. Dawson, president of the National Council of Churches. During the service, an address will be given by the Roman Catholic Bishop of Christchurch (the Most Rev. B. P. Ashby). The conference will be opened by the Mayor of Christchurch (Sir George Manning).
