No Reason For Fall
After the January Stakes at Addington last evening, an inquiry was held into an accident which had involved Braeburn, Diarac and Young Miss It was found that Diarac fell for no apparent reason soon after the start from the mobile gate. The ' horse’s driver, J. Grant, could not account for the fall. Young Miss and Braeburn were brought down by Diarac. After the Pioneer Stakes an inquiry was held into the falling of Wipeout. It was found that Wipeout lost balance and fell when his overcheck broke soon after the start. Leading Light, which ran into Wipeout, was put out of the race. Wipeout’s gear was found to be in first-class order.
Answer to Correspondent.— "Query,” Kaiapoi: Joell’s Lad started in the Cook Strait Handicap at the Wellington Trotting Club’s meeting on Tuesday, January 16. He was the ninth favourite and finished well back.
