First Yearlings On Way To Australia
(From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON. Even before the four-day auction of yearlings at Trentham ended yesterday 54 of those bought by Australians on the first two days were on their way to Sydney. They were a first shipment in the Kaitoke, which left Wellington on Tuesday night.
The shipment of yearlings bought for overseas will continue for the next week, with consignments due to leave for Melbourne on Monday and for Sydney on February 1 and 2. The auctioneers expect 30 yearlings to be in the Karanui for Melbourne and 16 in the Waikere for Sydney from Wellington on February 1. Thirty are scheduled to travel in the Katea from Tauranga to Svdney on February 2. It was anticipated at the end of yesterday’s selling
[that another 80-odd yearlings I would yet have to be accom- : modated on trans-Tasman ; ships.
