Police Apology To Negro
(N Z P A -Reuter—Copyright) NEW ORLEANS, Jan. 24. The New Orleans police have apologised for arresting Ernest Morial, who, in May. becomes the first Negro to sit in Louisiana’s House of Representatives for 79 years. Morial and a Negro newspaper executive, Henry Edjoie. were arrested by two patrolmen on a street corner outside Morial’s home on Friday night and charged with “failing to move on.” Morial was also charged wi*h using obscene language The patrolmen concerned ■vesterday apologised and ad[mitted they had used poor judgment.
