Broken Glass
Sir, —1 wholeheartedly support the letter by H. H. Moller pleading for some action on the menace of broken glass. Over the ChristmasNew Year period a drinking party was held on Woodend Beach. This resulted in a scattered pile of jagged broken glass which is slowly being covered by sand. Last Sunday another pile was in evidence below a sandhill close to the main entrance from the domain to the beach. A bonfire had been held and vodka bottles, beer bottles and half-gallon jars were smashed. Many large jagged pieces of glass, that could easily sever a small child’s foot, were lying halfburied in the sand. A group of us spent a considerable time gathering up as much glass as possible, but much still remains in the domain and on the beach. I would be interested to know if and when the local authorities will consider taking action. If nothing is done the beach will soon be one big booby trap.—Yours, etc., ACTION PLEASE.
