No Killing At Smithfield
(from Out Own Reporter* TIMARU, January 23. There was no killing after 11 aun. at the New Zealand Refrigerating Company, Ltd, works at Smithfield today. The branch manager (Mr N- H. Davis) said the problem was that steam was rising from some of the equipment on the viscera tables. “We think we have rectified this, and expect normal» killings will resume tomorrow,” Mr Davis said. He said that annual meetings of the Canterbury branch of the Freezing Workers Union were held at Pareora in the morning and at Smithfield in the afternoon.
