FLIGHT SIMULATOR FOR AIR NEW ZEALAND.—Jet pilots will train in this DC8 simulator which will be delivered to Air New Zealand next year and installed at the airline’s training school at Auckland Airport It is on order from a Canadian firm and will cost just under $NZ2m. Fully computerised, the machine will allow trainees to experience all the DC8’s flying characteristics, as hydraulic equipment underneath it will tilt the cabin, simulate climbs, dives, banks, and turns. Pilots will also hear engine and wind noises and tyre squeal, and feel a hard “landing.”
