Chanting At Fire
(N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, Jan. 21. Shouts of “sieg hell” accompanied firemen’s efforts to fight a blaze in an empty house in Devon Street East, New Plymouth, late on Saturday night. The house, which has been mentioned frequently in the Magistrate’s Court at New Plymouth, was recently called a “house of ill-repute” by Mr A. W. Yort, S.M. Before the fire, it was adorned with a sign reading “The Munster House.” Shouts of “sieg heil” came from among the large crowd that watched as firemen controlled the blaze and police officers present were heckled by youths. Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
