New Airliner Project
(Special Crspdt. NZPA ) I LONDON, Jan. 19. ' The BriVsh Aircraft Corporation is expected to make a decision later this year on whether to go ahead with plans to build the 201, a small DC3-type of aircraft. Plans are in hand to prolong the production life of the successful B.A.C. 1-11, and preliminary research is being carried out into building a 100-seater aircraft which would be used to link cities in the late 19705. This project envisages an airline with short take-off and landing capabilities and incorporating techniques which would “leap-frog” the advantages now being built into aircraft which will be flying in the early years of the 19705.
