(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Jan. 16. Dr T. O’Donovan, the New Zealand surgeon who is second-in-command to Professor Christiaan Barnard in the South African heart transplant team, discounted in Auckland today a British newspaper report that Professor Barnard was going to ask for £lm worth of new equipment as his price to stay in South Africa in the face of offers from th* United States. “It is most unlikely that he would demand such a price,” he aaid. “Very likely he is making the most of the transplants to obtain better equipment. “We are very poorly equipped in Cap* Town—our patients share the same wards with other patients, and we share the Mme operating theatre* with other doctors. “We are not as much of a unit as the heart .team at Green Lane.”
