New Tourist Hotel Opens
(N Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Jan. 16. The largest hotel in Auckland, the ssm South Pacific, opened for business this morning. The 14-storey building, in Lower Queen Street has 200 bedrooms and is already almost fully booked until the end of February. It has been built by New Zealand Breweries, Ltd, to cater primarily for the international tourist trade.
Every bedroom has a bathroom, television, refrigeratox and facilities for making coffee and tea. A honeymoon couple from Melbourne were the first guests to book into the hotel today, and they were given V.I.P. treatment.
