(N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH. Taranaki is well placed to lake a first innings lead over I King Country after the first day of a Hawke Cup elimina'tion match yesterday. King Country was dismissed for 116 in its first innings and by stumps Taranaki had scored 94 for two. Scores: King Country 116 (P. Newman 52: A. Jordan 5/33, B. O’Dowda 3/29), Taranaki 94/2 (M. Betts 39, T. Dravitzki 33 not out).
