SACKS FOR HARVEST
Imports Cut rpHE Department of Industries and Commerce had decided to limit the importation of new sacks for the 1967-68 harvest to two-thirds of the quantity imported last year, says Pyne, Gould, Guinness Ltd’s latest “Annual Review.”
“There is a surplus of once shot sacks, mainly in the North Island, and to conserve overseas funds we have been asked to use these once shot sacks and thus tidy up the present surplus. “We have no alternative but to ask our clients to take a portion of their sacks in new and the balance in once shot, the latter we suggest being used for barley. We understand that the usage loss on the once shot sacks will not be as great as for the new sacks.”
