ROBBERY SEARCH
Inquiries At Houses (N.Z. Press Association) WANGANUI, December 22. Detectives and policemen made door-to-door checks in Kimbolton and Waituna West today in the investigation after Wednesday’s armed robbery at the Hunterville A.N.Z. Bank, in which a man stole $12,000. Detective Chief Inspector F. Parker, who is controlling the search from Palmerston North, said tonight that nothing new on the robbery had arisen. The door-to-door interviews followed the discovery on Thursday of the motor-cycle used by the thief. The 90 c.c. machine was discovered on the verge of the Tapuae Road in the Waituna West area, along with the clothing the man had worn, tinned food, camping gear and a make-up kit. The manager of the bank, Mr W. J. Murphy, who was one of three men locked in the bank strongroom during the robbery, said that auditors had confirmed the amount stolen was just slightly less than $12,000.
