BAGCAGE AT PORT
‘No Charge For Inspection’ “Thert is no fefi for the Inspectlon by port agricultural officers of baggage, as a measure to prevent the introduction of serious diseases from overseas,” said Mr C. H. Crapp, the district port agriculture officer in Christchurch on Friday. Mr Crapp was commenting on a remark made by “Nukiwi” in a letter to the editor of “The Press,” published yesterday. “Nukiwi” said that “the so-called examination was no more than the appearance on the scene of an officer from the department who promptly departed on payment of the prescribed fee.” “1 would be pleased if ’Nukiwi’ and his acquaintances would care to call on me and have the matter fully investigated,” he said.
