Reef ton Stable Will Have Strong Team

The Reefton trainer, J. Lalor, will try his luck with 13 horses on the first day of the Greymouth Jockey Club’s meeting at Omoto today.

If weight of numbers counts for anything, the Lalor stable has a strong chance ;of carrying off the Flying Handicap, in which it will have five runners.

Tbe five Lalor-trained sprinters—Debbie Marie, Jayess, Jet Girl, Red Treasure, and Reefton Gold—will be run in different interests, so there will be no stable bracket.

Debbie Marie, tbe runnerup in her two starts at the Westland centennial meeting, could be the best of the Lalor team.

The Flying Handicap is the second leg of the T.A.B. double. Runners for the Lalor stable in the first leg, the Greymouth Cup, will be Count Down and Clipper. Count Down, a former North Islander with a preference for firm footing, performed with credit on a Canterbury spring campaign. He beat a good field over a mile and a quarter in the New Zealand Cup and Derby Trial at Motukarara, then ran third in the Fendalton Handicap, his first of two starts at the New Zealand Cup meeting. Count Down is a newcomer on the present West Coast circuit. So is Next Please, another likely to come up

with a bold run if tbe ground is good.

After two fine days in Greymouth and a favourable forecast, club officials were confident yesterday of a good track for today’s racing. Fields are:—
