Arms Found In Cells
(N.Z.P.A.-Heuter—Copyright) , LA ROCHELLE, Dec. 1. Caches of explosives and arms have been found in the cells of political prisoners at France’s top security prison three weeks after the shock escape of a convicted O.A.S killer.
Discovery of the explosives was announced last night but authorities at the island prison of St Martin de Re near La Rochelle drew a veil of secrecy over the details. Informed sources said the explosives included T.N.T. Security precautions at the tightly-guarded prison were increased after the escape on November 3 of Claude Tenne, a secret army (0.A.5.) killer. Several warders were dismissed. The sources said the arms and explosives had apparently been stockpiled for some time.
