(N.Z.P.A.-neuter—Copyright) SAIGON, Nov. 29. South Vietnamese soldiers are to join American marines in defending key combat bases near the Demilitarised Zone, Genetai William Westmoreland, the United States military commander in Vietnam, said in Saigon today.
General Westmoreland said on return from a two-week Visit to the-United States, that the Government troops would not be integrated with the marines but would man sectors along the buffer zone independently. He indicated that the North Vietnamese Army may have taken much higher casualties in the fighting at Dak To this month than has been announced in Saigon. y
