Troops In Custody

(N.ZP.A.-Reuter —Copyright)

ISERLOHN (West Germany),

December 1.

Several British servicemen were expected to be charged and nine Canadians were in custody yesterday after a pitched battle at Iserlohn between about 50 British and Canadian soldiers.

The fighting broke out in front of the Iserlohn town hall and in nearby streets after a week of rising tension and minor incidents involving troops stationed in the area.

A German policeman and two civilians were injured, the police said. An Army spokesman said three Britons were in hospital for treatment of minor injuries, but no Canadians were admitted. Accounts of how the fighting started differed.
