BRABIN SQUAD

D. R. Phillipson, the Christchurch Boys' High School captain and fast bowler, is a surprise inclusion in the 16-man Brabin Shield (under-20) cricket squad to prepare for the tournament beginning in late December. Phillipson was not included in the final trial and the selectors (Messrs G. W. Frampton, convener, D. J. Blakely and B. C. Irving) could not have been impressed with the fast bowlers on display in the trial. Although the wicket gave them little assistance, none of them looked really impressive. The squad is:— B. Bhana (Linwood H.S.), R. Campbell (St. Bede's), J. H. Christensen (Old Boys), A. E. Collins (Lancaster Park). P. G. D'Auvergne (South Canterbury), R. W. Fulton (Christ's College), C. Deß.
