Samuel Fit For Woodville Sprint
"The Press” Special Service PALMERSTON NORTH. Samuel suggested he had a winning chance on Saturday when he galloped briskly over five furlongs on the plough yesterday at Woodville. He is a stablemate of the first day winner, Sherlocks, and although hardly as forward, he could not be counted out if the track eased slightly. Working on the plough because of the hard grass footing in the centre, Samuel, partnered by Far Cry, ran five, furlongs in OOisec, taking 36 l-ssec for the final three. He had Far Cry well covered at all stages, finishing a little over a length ahead. Another fast five furlongs was that of Kathey’s Son and Summer Dale. Kathey’s Son. a rival for Samuel on moved slightly ahead at the line to clock Imin Hsec, the last three in 37isec. Jen Hai was paired with Nasa | Fair in a brisk run over a mile in Imin 41sec, the last six in i Imin 17sec and the final three 'in 37jsec. . Sir Blue was hurried along ' over seven furlongs in Imin 29sec. Min Flicka had Colorado Boy working hard at the end of five furlongs in imin 2jsec, the last three in s7sec. Patrida, Ellinis, and Sherlocks were let off with easy tasks. Dry Time., a useful horse in holding ground, has been sold to Mr W. Bladen and he will join the Riccarton stable of P. H. Jones this week. Gnaius has been sold to Malaya. T. R. Howe will take Summer Flight to Australia with him to race for Mr W. Broderick in hurdle events.
