DERAILED ENGINE
An engine hauling a goods train from Picton was derailed at Amberley when passing over a set of points during shunting operations about 12.30 a.m. yesterday. Only the engine left the tracks and it remained upright. It was brought to Christchurch later yesterday morning for inspection. A number of goods trains in the area at the time of the derailment were delayed for varying periods of up to 30 minutes. No passenger services were affected.
