Good Rugby Records
•TEAMS from the Greymouth High School had excellent records this year In competitions conducted by the West Coast Rugby Union. Under the guidance of the West Coast hooker, L. Trowbridge, the Ist XV won the under-18 competition, playing 16 matches for 11 wins, four losses and one draw. It scored 221 points and had 68 registered against it The captain was G. Richards. Another school team had a clean sweep in the fifth grade winning the championship, the secondary competition and the seven-a-side competition. Its record was even better than the Ist XV. It scored nearly 400 points and had only 39 scored against it. This performance won the team the Andy Nolan Memorial Trophy for the highest number of points scored in the union’s junior competitions. The team was captained by B McMath and the coach was Mr D. Smith.
