Freezing Dispute

(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, Nov. 27. The dispute between the management of the New Zealand Refrigerating Co. Ltd, and the Otago-Southland Freezing Workers’ Union is in its fifth day. A ban on export killing at the Burnside works was imposed last Thursday after a deadlock in negotiations which began after 48 slaughtermen had been dismissed on Tuesday. The union wanted the men reinstated before it would discuss settlement of the dispute, but this was not acceptable to management. There were no moves today to end the dispute.

Bonded Stores.—The Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association on Monday evening decided to refer td the export committee of the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Federation a suggestion that bonded stores be set up in major centres overseas that were likely to receive exports from New Zealand
