WARRANTS OF FITNESS
Dismissal Of Appeals Appeals by five garages, at Prebbleton, Islington and Yaldhurst, against revocation from January 1 next of their authorities to issue warrants of fitness were dismissed after hearings by the Sockburn joint vehicle testing station committee, the Paparua County Council was told last night.
The appeals dismissed were from Yaldhurst Garage and Service Station, Ltd, Prebbleton Motors, Ltd, Southway Service Station, Smith's Garage (Prebbleton) and Crowe’a Garage, Ltd (Islington). Each of the garages claimed that they provided a public service and that loss of the right to issue warrants could result in staff dismissals. Evidence was given that the garages issued more than 500 warrants each month. Garages at West Melton, Weedons and Ladbrooks will retain their authorities.
