Talks With Fairlie
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND In response to an urgent appeal, the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association will meet Mr N. D. Fairlie on Thursday for discussions concerning the New Zealand association and his son. the Davis Cup player. B E. Fa i rile. At last evening's management committee meeting It was de elded, after a discussion in com mittee, to write to the New Zea land association for clarification of several questions. In a circular received by Fairlie from the national body it was stated that selection for the Davis Cup team would be on merit and there was no sug gestion that players had to be available for the national circuit this year. However, in a subsequent letter, Fairlie was informed that he would have to play the circuit in order to be considered for the team. Chess Correction.—The six teenth round match between L Portisch (Hungary) and E Cuellar (Columbia) in the inter zonal chess tournament at Sousse, Tunisia, was drawn, li was incorrectly reported that I Portisch won.
