INFECTED ANIMALS
More Killed In U.K. (N.Z.P.A. -Reuter— Copyright) LONDON, Nov. 7. Nearly 20,000 animals have been infected by foot-and-mouth disease, and slaughtered, the Ministry of Agriculture reported yesterday. The Ministry said that there were a further 17 outbreaks in the Shropshire and Cheshire area, bringing the total to 106 . Of these 104 were in the Shropshire-Cheshire area, one at Carnforth, Lancashire, and one at Gosnall, Staffordshire. The numbers of animals slaughtered was 9425 cattle, 7862 sheep and 8652 pigs. Commenting on the outbreaks, Mr Ernest Corrigall, the regional veterinary officer, said there was still no sign that the epidemic was abating.
