(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 6. Half an inch of rain in five hours and winds reaching 75 miles an hour brought winter back to Wellington today. Between 4 a.m. and 9 a.m. today .32 inches of rain fell at Kelburn, and a maximum gust of 75 miles an hour was recorded there at 11.30 a.m. At Wellington Airport the wind reached 71 miles an hour. Part of a large tiled decorative concrete panel on the third storey of the recentlycompleted Education House in Upper Willis Street fell off the building shortly after 12.15 p.m. The slab landed on a parking area next to the building, smashing a car windscreen and shattering into tiny pieces, but nobody was injured.
