The application has been made by Leslie Morris Schneideman, of Wellington, a company director, on behalf of the publishers, the New English Library, Ltd, of Lonr don. London Bridge Americans will probably buy the 136-year-old London Bridge, according to the City Engineer. The bridge across the Thames is to be demolished next year to be replaced by a much wider one. The Corporation of London, not wanting to destroy a piece of history, has invited offers for the 10,000 tons of granite facing stones. The bridge was built for £426,000 and opened in 1831 by King William IV. —London, November 6. Poor Bar Depth The Greymouth Harbour bar is at a very poor depth at present. The outer bar is 6|ft deep at low tide and the inner bar is only 7ft. Shipping had been restricted for some time by the low depths and the position was not good, the harbourmaster (Cr H. J. Gordon) said yesterday. —F.0.0.R. Children At Wigram More than 3000 Christchurch primary school children went to the Royal New Zealand Air Force Base, Wigram, yesterday to see the static display which filled No. 1 hangar for the fiftieth anniversary of flight at Wigram on Sunday. The Air Force also invited several groups of elderly and handicapped. Airmen began dismantling the exhibits last evening.
