U.S. Award To R.S.A. Leader
(N.Z. Press Association) i WELLINGTON, Nov. 6. i The United States AmbassaI dor (Mr J. F. Henning) today presented the president of the Returned Services Association (Mr H. Mitchell) with the American Legion International Amity Award. Mr Mitchell is the first New Zealander to receive the award, made in recogntion of outstanding services in the field of veterans’ affairs. The award has been presented to representatives of only five other nations. Personal Items Mr J. J. Scully has been appointed deputy chairman of the Social Security Commission. replacing Mr D. Paul, who has retired.—(P.A )
