JOOtli Trout During the first week of the trout fishing season, Mr L. Beardsley, of Christchurch a guest at the Mitchells Hotel, caught the coveted 100th fish from Lake Brunner. Mr Beardsley repeated the achievement of his brother, Mr A. Beardsley, last season. The hotel proprietor (Mr G. Henderson) recognises each 100th fish caught on the lake with a prize. In gaining the award, Mr Beardsley narrowly beat Mr R. Ellery, of Greymouth, who caught three the' previous night, bringing the total to 99.—(F.0.0.R.). Engine Fault Passengers bound for Wellington aboard a National Airways Corporation Viscount which should have left Christchurch at 3.30 p.m. yesterday had a two-hour wait at the airport. When the Viscount arrived at Christchurch from Wellington an engine defect was found and the aircraft was taken to the hangar for repair. Forty-five minutes or so later it was wheeled around to the terminal. Passengers got ready to go out and get aboard when the aircraft was towed back to the hangar again with the original fault The Viscount took off at 5.30 p.m. Passengers on this flight who were travelling further north than Wellington were accommodated on other flights. Mild Week-end A moderate north-east wind blew in Christchurch most of the week-end and the temperature was mild. On Saturday the weather was cloudy and the temperature rose slowly to a maximum of 62 degrees at Harewood in the early afternoon. Yesterday cloudy skies and a light southerly kept the temperature cool in the morning, but by mid-afternoon the wind had changed to a fresh northeasterly and the weather became sunny and mild. At Harewood at 6 a.m. a temperature of 51 degrees was recorded. By 9 a.m. it was 54 degrees and at noon it was 62 degrees. A maximum temperature of 65 degrees was recorded at 3 p.m.
