Good Entries At Opening
More than 20 boats took part in the New Brighton Power Boat Club's opening day on the Estuary off Pleasant Point on Saturday. Six races were held over four laps of the one-mile course. A Johnston, the 75 cubic inch Vbottom New Zealand record holder in Atom XI, had a trial spin in his new boat, Atom XII. He had the boat going well after a -mishap which bent the propellor. D. Chun also had a new boat, Miss Ryan Craft, powered with a 350 c.c. Chevrolet engine, which performed well after initial difficulties with the carburettors. Results:
