Mairehau Cycling Classic To Reid
B. Reid won the Mairehau Novice Wheelmen’s 30 kilometres classic, the club’s final race of the season, on Saturday by a clear margin from his co-markers, P. Hannah and M. O’Sullivan.
Fastest time and the 30 kilos championship was won by P. D. Brydon, who beat L. M. Vette and D. N. McEvoy in a sprint finish. McEvoy last week set a record for 4|miles on the club’s circuit. The limit riders (14min) held the lead until five miles from the finish but the 9min riders, who had ridden strongly all the race and teamed together well, looked a likely winning bunch. The points trophy for his performances during the season was won by P. Jesson. Results:—

The Papanui pair, R. J. Hogan and B. R. Chisholm, won the Hornby club's 71-mile two-man teams’ time trial yesterday morning with the very good time of 15min 28.1 sec. B. Berry (Hornby) and G. R. Sword (Avon) also returned the good time of 15min 40sec.
