OPEN CATTLE SALE
Sound Market At Pleasant Point At the Pleasant Point open cattle sale yesterday, more than 800 store cattle of all breeds were offered to a fairly large gallery of farmers. Buyers from Central Otago and southern areas helped to sustain the market which was sound. A total clearance was made, although several email pens were passed in at auction. The clean bred straight lines of Aberdeen Angus Cross Hereford and Shorthorn cross cattle tn both heifer and steer sections commanded first-class sales and keen competition. The yarding was noteworthy for the large numbers of mixed bred cattle of ordinary quality, which sold at rates very little below last year’s values. The price range was: Two-year Hereford steers, 950 to S7B: two-year Aberdeen Angus cross steers. 970 to 986: two-year Shorthorn cross steers. 974 to 983: two-year Friesian steers, 969 to 975 Yearling steers: Aberdeen Angus cross, 942 to 968; Hereford, 937.50 to 972: Friesian, 936 to 960.5 ft; Shorthorn cross, 942 to 968.
