REMARKABLE START
An East ChristchurchShirley medium-pace bowler, K. W. Lynch, had a remarkable start to the cricket season on Saturday when ho had bowling figures in a single innings of 10 wickets for 18 runs.
Lynch, playing In a third grade A match against Riccarton, bowled seven of his victims, had two l.b.w. and the tenth was caught. Riccarton made 108.
The unusual feature of his performance, however, was that Lynch was originally
chosen for a third-grade ■ team and only on Saturday morning was promoted, when another player was not available. East-Shirley will not have Lynch's services very long this season; next month he will go to Singapore with the New Zealand Army. Lynch has played for EestShirley since the 1964-65 season and has been a consistent performer for the thirdgrade B team, taking 79 wickets In the last three seasons.
