Burnside In Command Against Merivale

Burnside was In a strong position against Merivale when It scored 236 for seven wickets declared and then took four Merivale wickets cheaply on Saturday, the first day of the Suburban Cricket Associa-

tion's competitions. Playing Beckenham, Waltham was dismissed for the moderate total of 107. Three Beckenham bowlers took three wickets apiece. In reply Beckenham also found runs hard to come by and at close of play had lost five wickets.

Aranui, after a good opening partnership of 97 by E. Courtier and K. Whiting, slumped against a rather weak Sumner attack. B. Buckner, the most accurate bowler, took four wickets.

Burnside on its home ground made light of Merivale and scored 236 for six wickets before closing the innings, W. Treloar and A. Montgomery heading the list. Merivale made a poor start in reply losing four wickets cheaply.
