ATLANTIC CROSSING
Actress Claims Record (N.Z.P.A -Reuter—Copyright) TORONTO, Oct. 15. The aviatrix Miss Sheila Scott arrived in Toronto yesterday for the city’s British Week celebrations after claiming a new record for the solo east-west Atlantic crossing. About 100 well-wishers cheered as the 39-year-old blonde actress landed her tiny single-engined Piper Comanche at Toronto’s International Airport.
She touched down at Gander, Newfoundland, on Friday, 17 hours 14 minutes after leaving Shannon, Ireland, and said she had broken the east-west record of 33 hours set in 1935 by Jim Mollison.
