N.Z. PILOT KILLED
Singapore Crash
A Christchurch pilot. Flying Officer G. C. Barnard, who was serving with the Royal Air Force at Tenga, Singapore died in Singapore on Wednesday as the result of a flying accident He was aged 26.
Flying Officer Barnard was born in Christchurch and was educated at Christchurch . Boys’ High School. He joined the Royal New Zealand Air Force in 1962 to train as a navigator. In 1963 he joined the RA.F. and graduated as
a pilot After three years in England he was transferred to Malaysia to serve with No. 60 Squadron in Javelin fighters. He was a keen sportsman and continued playing Rugby while oversea*.
