Minister Awaits Russian’s Visit
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 13. The Minister of Overseas Trade (Mr Marshall) said today he hoped the Russian Minister to New Zealand (Mr B. Y. Dorofeev) would call on him ; soon to discuss reciprocal trading arrangements.
He had written to Mr Dorofeev three weeks ago inviting him to call. “But Mr Dorofeev replied that |ie was seeking further information,’’ said Mr Marshall.. >Laat night Mr Marshall said that the Government was reviewing its planned purchases of capital equipment to determine whether any items would be suitable in reciprocal trading arrangements with countries which would be prepared to increase their purchases of New Zea-
land wool or dairy products.' Earlier-this week the Minister of Railways (Mr Gordon) said that the Government was interested in buying railway equipment from Russia—with New Zealand wool a* a factor in the deal. j Today Mr to comment on' the possibility meeting betwew Zealand was interested; in Russian railway equipment; Mr Dorofeev laughed and said: “Be patient.
